Abstract:
»This article presents a lesson plan about the history of "comfort women," a euphemism for sex slaves by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The lesson plan is designed to demonstrate how to teach the historical contention of the "comfort women" issue through Shusenjo: Comfort Women and Japan's War on History, a documentary that contains the deniers' narratives and the supporters' counter-narratives. The design follows a model that combines the Hollywood or History inquiry (Nance, 2022) and the Russell Model (Russell, 2007). Primary and secondary source documents are integrated into the lesson.«
